inthinc Integrates HOS Electronic Driver Logs with Fleet Management Solution
SALT LAKE CITY - 05/09/2011 - inthinc Technology Solutions Inc., a global telematics company centered on fleet management and driver safety solutions, has integrated electronic Hours-of-Service (HOS) logs into its waySmart™ solution. Developed in accordance with federal safety regulations for commercial carriers, the inthinc Electronic On-Board Recorder (EOBR) automatically tracks driver hours and simplifies fleet administration while monitoring driver safety and vehicle utilization.
Designed to accelerate fleet efficiency, inthinc's EOBR:
- Eliminates paper logs, saving 10 minutes-a-day per driver
- Automates IFTA Fuel Tax reporting
- Notifies drivers and fleet managers when hours are exceeded
- Performs safety checks including pre- and post-trip inspections
Integrating electronic logs capabilities with the waySmart solution allows organizations to manage HOS data in tandem with real-time fleet management reporting including features such as:
- Real-time, in-cab, verbal alerts for Speeding, Seatbelt Use and Aggressive Driving
- GPS tracking and Trips reporting
- Emergency global satellite communications connectivity
- Crash Detection and Accident Reconstruction
Earlier this year, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) proposed a rule*that would require interstate commercial truck and bus companies to use an EOBR. The proposed rule will impact an estimated 500,000 carriers in the United States. Carriers that violate this EOBR requirement can face fines of up to $11,000 for each offense, while also endangering their safety fitness rating and Department of Transportation (DOT) operating authority.
"inthinc HOS Electronic Driver Logs are developed to meet federal standards related to EOBRs for commercial vehicles," said Corey Catten, CTO, inthinc Technology Solutions. "We also work very closely with some of the largest fleets in the world and have incorporated their feedback - tailoring our technology to what drivers and fleet managers need to maximize productivity."
